The Johnstown YMCA is seeking lifeguards for year round openings. The Johnstown Community YMCA is part of the YMCA of Northern Colorado; we offer memberships, fitness programs, youth sports, aquatics programs, social opportunities, and early childhood education for the Northern Front Range.

Do you love flip flops and pool noodles? Does the sound of splashing make you smile? We are looking for lifeguards. Currently, all shifts are available.

You will serve as an advocate for the safety and wellbeing of our members and guests, and you will ensure that the Y's pool is a friendly, welcoming environment for all to play, learn and build confidence in the water. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the safety of participants while they are in or near the pool or hot tub, general maintenance and cleanliness of the pool, chemical testing, and general problem-solving. You'll need to relate positively to a variety of people including other staff, members, program participants, and children.

In general, our pools are open:

  • Monday - Thursday: 5 am - 9:45 p
  • Friday: 5 am - 7:45 pm
  • Saturday: 6:45 am - 7:45 pm
  • Sunday: 7:45 am - 5:45 pm


  • Current ARC/YMCA Lifeguard, First Aid, AED, Emergency Oxygen and CPR-PR Certifications
  • Minimum of 16 years of age
  • Professional, alert, courteous, and tactful
  • Blood Borne Pathogens within 30 days of being hired

Salary range is $13.00-15.00/hr based on experience. We offer a +10% differential for bilingual staff (Spanish and English) and a +10% differential for staff working the opening shift. These increases can be combined. And there are great benefits, too. Part time staff working more than 15 hours each week are eligible for free individual and discounted family membership as well as 25%-50% off most YMCA of Northern Colorado program fees for themselves and qualifying family members (including personal training, swim lessons, after school programs, day camp programs and more) on a space available basis. Additional benefits include earned sick time and contributions of 10% of your salary to the YMCA Retirement Fund for eligible staff.
