The Y's School Age Program Assistant Director serves as the second in command at a YMCA Before and After School Program site. 

And while this position is second in command, they are first in our hearts. 

That's because the assistant director is utterly vital to the day-to-day operations of our Before and After School Programs. The assistant director position is a support system and sidekick to the site director while helping to manage, direct and coordinate YMCA programs and activities and ensuring that policies and rules are followed. They also spend tons of time working with our young program participants nurturing their potential, helping them develop bonds and keeping them from going all "Lord of the Flies." 

Yes, this position requires someone with fast reflexes, a big heart and strong leadership skills. You can calm the after-school wiggles in record time, you can speak to parents with professionalism and positivity, and you can train a new staff member through a balance of empathy, accountability and role modeling. 

Essential Duties: 

  • Works with Site Director to manage, direct and coordinate program areas, ensure high quality programs and establish new program activities.
  • Ability to provide effective leadership in the Site Directors absence
  • Assures compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas. Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with school administration, parents, and children.
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Shifts available include Monday-Friday 2-6pm and Wednesdays 8-9:45am (optional), up to 25 hours per week during the school year. Additional hours available during school breaks. We can accommodate 2-5 day per week employees.

Salary range is $14-$16/ hour 

To apply for a Part Time Assistant Director position you must:

Be 21 years or older

Supply documentation of current certification or become certified in CPR and First Aid.

Provide 3 written references.

AND have at least one of the following

A four year degree in a related field

OR

48 semester hours of college credit AND 960 hours of experience in a licensed program since turning 18

OR

5460 hours of experience working directly with school-age children with a group of 4 or more unrelated school age children.

A positive attitude and closed toed shoes are required.
