The Mapleton branch of the YMCA of Northern Colorado is seeking a full time fitness leader who balances energy and acumen with a whole lot of niceness.

The Y's new Associate Program Director of Health and Fitness will help oversee our growing health and fitness offerings, with a focus on day to day operations of the Health & Fitness program areas (i.e., Personal Training, Group Exercise, Active Older Adult (AOA), Wellness Floor and Fitness Consultations). This management-level position ensures that our programs and staff meet the needs and exceed the expectations of our strong-minded, strong-bodied members and community. You will also work closely with the Executive Director to develop strategies to increase established revenue goals, member retention and engagement.

The Associate Program DIrector for Health and Fitness will:

  • Direct and supervise program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives. Monitor daily operations to adhere to all YMCA health and safety standards and policies.
  • Recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule, and direct personnel and volunteers as needed. Review and evaluate staff performance. Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve revenue goals.
  • Establish new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans. This includes creating, implementing, and scheduling health and wellness programs and classes and teaching classes as needed.
  • Purchase and maintain equipment, parts, and supplies as needed. Coordinate and schedule equipment maintenance and repairs.
  • Assist in the marketing and distribution of program information, may organize and schedule program registrations.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations.
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
  • Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
  • Model relationship-building skills in all interactions. Respond to all member and community inquiries and complaints within 24 hours.
  • Assist with Program Committee meetings as needed.
  • Compile program statistics. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in program.
  • Coordinate use of facilities for program activities and events, including facility room reservations.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.


  • Minimum age of 21
  • One to two years related experience preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Health & Fitness or related field preferred.
  • Requirements within 30 days of hire include: CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens.
  • ACSM, NASM, CSCS, NSCA or ACE personal training national certification are preferred and required after 3 months of employment.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.                                     

Hiring Salary Range: $14-16/hour based on experience- position is 40 hours per week. As part of the 40 hour work week, this position will spend 5 hours a week in personal training at $29/hour.
